Thursday, 10. Sept. 2009

We are on our way home, looking forward to listen to Ace of Base “It’s a beautiful life” and then the big shock; we cant get into our apartment. We try everything to open the door with our keys, but there is nothing we can do.

The Parisian First Aid Kit has to be used: Cell-phone, metro card and city map. Its good to have friends here, especially those with 4 extra beds. After calling back and forth we can get through to Patrick and thanks heavens we can catch the last metro and sleep over at his sleeping sofa.

Merci beaucoup, you rescued our night.

Maria and I are heading of to town and really have no clue what to expect for this night. We start with Sonja Rykiel and of course champagne is served in the entrance. We are looking at the new collections and a fortune reader is telling some of the guests what will happen in their future. Every store has a different way to present their clothing. From life models at Kenzo, Dj´s and MAC make-up artists at Chloé, Water pipes at DVF till cotton candy and guys dressed like cats at a for me unknown brand, they all had one thing in common: a lot of CHAMPANGE & COCKTAILS ☺

It is a fabulous night, gorgeous people and also a lot of botox and plastic, the Eiffel Tower is sparkling.

Nini and I are catching up at park “Jardin de Tuilliers“ to get some fresh air and clear our heads. We are thinking about what we can do with our free time now and hey, maybe I could get a job! But where to start…

After a lot of thoughts its time to go home and get ready for the Vogue event this evening. “Fashion Celebration night, 10 Sept. 2009 Paris” is written on the cover of the invite that gives you access to all the designer boutiques mainly in Avenue Montaigne.

Master in Advertising Creativity

Research

Thursday, 10. Sept. 2009

Getting up early to go to school. Marketing Pack or research is the next class in my schedule. The teacher is nice but the level seems to be quite low. After class we are talking to Syona, a really sweet and helpful exchange coordinator, and we figure out that the level really is not high enough. Ahhhh that means: Changing classes again!!!

Its so chaotic and extremely frustrating. I am choosing a new master that is called “MAC, Master in Advertising Creativity”. So far, so good. But that one first starts in the end of October and finishes in December, so basically I have VACATIONS now for 1, 5 month. Unbelievable…

Sorry for the late updates. Today would be Wednesday the 15. and I am starting Brand Strategy at Sup de Pub. The first class is called Trend Spotting. And the teacher is VERY good in English. I am surprised… Looking forward to the next classes.

Just the 2 of us…

… Maria and I.
Today is Monday and my roomy is moving in. In the morning we had a French test for the language class. Disaster! The words I write make no sense, as well as the ones I read. But that’s what is all about, isn’t it? Learning & improving.

The sun is setting and we are going for a walk through the streets of Marais, the Seine and Notre Dame. Its warm; around 25 degrees; nice way to end the day.

Weekend

My first weekend in Paris. We didn’t went out on Friday, strange, I know! Its time to discover the area where I life in a little bit more. Some cosy streets, vibrant atmosphere and a lot off nice shops. Streets are crowded with people. And finally, after taking a closer look, I discovered all the small vintage shops.

Of course I also had to go to Colette. One of the most famous fashion bloggers Scott Schuman http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/ is signing his new book. To my surprise the French blogger Garance Doré http://www.garancedore.fr/ is also there. They are both really nice and positive. But what surprised me the most is the people that gathered around there. They are very fashionable and far away from the black, white, grey “chic” style. There is hope…

On Saturday night we went out for dinner at the most amazing apartment in Paris I have seen so far. Afterwards we went to Showcase. Fun night out, very different from the clubs I go to in Copenhagen though. Anyways, hangover feels the same.

Sunday= SUN day

Friday 4 September 2009

F.I.N.E.

Wow, the school situation is solved!! I will be studying a full degree program “Brand Strategy” at the Sup de Pub School for communication and marketing. The degree will be completely in English, app. 40 French students and full 30 credits.

Perfect day, besides of tons of rain. Finally having a French number and a monthly pass as well and Monday an appointment to open a bank account. Too much bureaucracy going on, I need to go outside and discover my neighbourhood.

Its so nice! And so French! Love it!

“Nobody- Knows-Situation”

Thursday the 3. September. Went to the school Sup de Pub today to find out if we could take courses on their campus, but the person we should talk to is not there, so we have to come back on Friday. I don’t think this school chaos will be solved soon, but who cares anyways?!

Instead of being at school we are heading of to Marais, drinking coffee and then some flat hunting with Maria is the program for today.

In the evening the Danish / Swedish / German CBS crew is meeting up. Red wine and cheese is of course a must here! Looking forward…

Bonjour, I am from Erasmus!

Chaos, first school day! Its easy to find your way around with the metro, I meet Nini at the metro. We are suppose to be 150 exchange students, but I guess we are around half of that. Everybody seems to be quite nice, a lot of Germans hahaha. Apparently the school hasn’t arranged any social activities at all, the courses they send us, before arriving, are not existing at all or not in English. The new course list we get is packed with boring topics or are in French.

Now I am home, went to the supermarket and the bakery, bought a French Vogue and waiting for Maria to arrive… Tomorrow there will be another chaotic way at school.

One-way ticket…

There it is, the sun is setting and Paris is sparkling, I can spot the Eifeltower, the city is shining in the dark. I am arriving: 1. September 2009, 21:00. Thanks for picking me up from the airport, long time no see. An old friend of mine, who I know from my exchange in Copenhagen, is bringing me to my new home. The area is amazing; I can’t stop staring at the beautiful buildings and nice shops. Marais is just wonderful. Cool boutiques, a lot of Jewish culture and not to forget the guy scene. The apartment is crappy, we will be living on the edge, but manage to survive, I guess.

Of to Buddha Bar and grabbing a drink. We drive by some monumental places, e.g. Louvre, Hotel de Ville and Notre Dame. The city is so amazing I cant even but it into words. I am amazed, fascinated & overwhelmed. Life is beautiful!!!

First Steps

Excitement, anticipation and ready to face a new city / culture / lifestyle are the expressions that would describe my first feelings for the semester abroad in Paris.

After weeks of flat hunting and no “what so ever” news from the university INSEEC, finally things turned to work out just-in-time. Maria and I will be living in the city centre (Marais, 4. Arr.) in a one room apartment. 2 people; 1 room: Vive la Vie Bohéme…

All I can say is: Paris here I come!!
